Coastal Living Room Ideas
One coastal take on a real corner living room, shot from where you would actually stand.
BeforeCoastal is less about anchors on the wall than about light and natural texture: pale blue, cream, jute, painted timber. This render keeps the room's one window doing the work and leans everything else warm and washed-out. It is a soft look, and on a beige room that already runs neutral it can go flat, so the wood tones matter more than they seem.
The coastal look, in one real living room

Coastal
A light-blue slipcovered sofa and two cream stripe armchairs sit on a jute rug around a dark turned-leg coffee table. The beige walls become white shiplap, hung with gold-framed seascapes, and built-in white bookcases fill the corner where the media console used to be. Two honest notes: those built-ins are joinery, not a weekend swap, and there is no TV anywhere in this version.

Questions
- Does coastal mean a nautical, themed room?
- No. The style is really about light, pale colour and natural texture, not ropes and anchors. In this render the seascape paintings are the only literal nod to the sea; everything else is just jute, linen and painted wood.
- Where does the TV go?
- This version does not have one. The render replaces the dark media console with built-in bookcases and a gallery of seascapes. You can absolutely keep a screen; Inty is showing you the look, not telling you to bin the television.
- Are the built-in bookcases necessary?
- They are the most expensive part here and the one thing you cannot do in a weekend. Freestanding white shelving flanking the sofa gets you most of the effect without a joiner.
- Will a blue sofa make the room feel cold?
- It can in a north-facing room, which is why this render balances it with a jute rug, a warm walnut table and cream curtains. Keep the warm textures and the blue reads calm rather than chilly.
- Are slipcovers practical?
- That is the quiet advantage of the look: slipcovers come off and wash, which suits a living room that actually gets used. It is one of the few style choices here that is more practical, not less.
