Autumnal Modern Living Room Ideas

One autumnal-modern take on a real corner living room, shot from where you would actually stand.

Real living room before redesign: beige textured walls, a popcorn ceiling with a track light, a dark wood media console with a flatscreen TV and framed photos, an oatmeal chenille sofa, a brown recliner beside a tall curtained window, a black arc floor lamp and a trellis-pattern rug on laminate floorBefore
The same corner living room redesigned in autumnal modern: a rust velvet wood-frame sofa with olive cushions and a sage throw, a walnut open-shelf coffee table, a mustard armchair, a tan leather pouf, a green-rust-cream checkerboard shag rug, a grid gallery wall of earthy prints, and walnut corner shelves of trailing plants.Autumnal ModernTry on my room →

Autumnal modern is a palette more than a floor plan: burnt orange, olive green and walnut, on an otherwise ordinary modern layout. This render pours all three across a rust velvet sofa, a checkerboard shag rug and a grid of earthy prints, warmed up with a lot of plants and a pleated lamp. It photographs beautifully. Whether it holds up in July is a fair question.

Questions

Is autumnal modern just a colour palette?
Largely, yes. It is rust, olive and walnut laid over a fairly standard modern living-room layout. That is good news: you can get most of the effect by changing textiles and paint rather than furniture.
Will it make the room feel dark or heavy?
It is warm rather than dark, but it is committed. The cream walls, the plants and a single tall window are what keep it from closing in; strip those out and the palette does start to press down.
Where does the TV go?
There is no screen in this render. The open walnut table is storage, not a media unit, so a TV would need to be wall-mounted above it. Inty shows the look; you decide whether the television stays.
Do I have to hang the whole gallery wall?
No, and it is the most time-consuming part. A single large piece in earthy tones gives you most of the calm without eight frames to align.
Does the look work year-round?
The palette leans hard into autumn. Keeping the walls neutral and the plants alive stops it from feeling like a seasonal display you forgot to take down.
