Warm oak, paper lantern

A rice paper globe lantern hangs over the bed and a second glass fixture sits near the door, which is one light too many. The warmest of the four and the one you can mostly just buy. Storage as the decoration

The right wall is open oak cube storage with books and leaning prints, and that storage is the decoration. This bed sits higher than the rest and it does not suffer. Forest green
Forest green carried right over the window trim, a walnut bed with a panelled headboard, two rice paper globes, a picture ledge of dark woodland prints, a walnut sideboard with pale vases and seagrass baskets tucked underneath, pothos trailing down. It looks good. It is barely japandi, though. This is a dark green bedroom that borrowed the lanterns. And forest green is a full repaint, trim included.
Red lanterns
Cream walls, oak bed, oak dressers, and then the colour arrives all at once: two red paper lanterns, a goldfish poster, a red patterned runner. This is the japandi rule from the intro run in reverse — the room stays neutral so three red objects can carry it. It is also the cheapest version on the page by a mile: the lanterns and the poster are pocket money, and everything else is furniture you keep.
